The Federal Aviation Administration has announced that it will investigate after the engine cowling of a Southwest Airlines plane fell off during takeoff in Denver and struck the wing flap. The incident occurred on Flight 3695 heading to Houston, which safely returned to Denver following the incident. Southwest Airlines stated that they are working to rebook passengers on another aircraft and that their maintenance teams are reviewing the aircraft involved. This incident comes after another malfunction was reported on a Southwest Airlines flight at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. The FAA is investigating both incidents.
