As the war in Ukraine continues into its 774th day, the situation remains tense with ongoing fighting and casualties on both sides. Russian attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries in various cities and regions, including Kharkiv and Zaporizhia.
In political developments, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to visit Beijing for talks with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi to discuss the “Ukrainian crisis.” Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that without US approval of a $60 billion military aid package, Ukraine would not be able to withstand Russia’s aggression, putting other countries at risk of attack.
The conflict also saw accusations from Russia of a drone attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, a strategic facility that Russia had seized at the start of its invasion in 2022. Ukraine denied the claim, highlighting the ongoing propaganda war being waged alongside the physical conflict.
