The Biden administration later collaborated with senators on a bipartisan immigration and border security plan, which saw support from both parties before ultimately losing GOP backing following Trump’s opposition.
Trump, in a recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border, also avoided questions about potential family separations under his proposed zero-tolerance policy. He mentioned making provisions for mixed-status families but did not provide specifics. Vance’s remarks align with Trump’s immigration stance, emphasizing the need to address violent criminals and control illegal immigration without directly addressing concerns about family separation.
