The Israeli army has issued evacuation orders for Palestinians near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, the only remaining functioning medical facility in the area. The hospital is not within the designated “dangerous combat area” according to the Gaza Government Media Office. This comes amidst ongoing attacks by Israel on Gaza hospitals since October 7, with several mass evacuations ordered to so-called “safe” zones. Human rights groups have criticized the orders for causing mass suffering and inhumanity.
The attacks by Israel have resulted in over 40,400 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and nearly 93,500 injuries. The ongoing blockade of Gaza has exacerbated the situation, leading to severe shortages of essential supplies like food, water, and medicine.
Despite a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel has continued its offensive on Gaza following an attack by Hamas. Palestinians have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in designated safe areas, only to face further attacks by Israel. The situation in Gaza remains dire, with the region struggling to recover from the devastation wrought by the ongoing conflict.
