Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris will be sitting down for her first formal interview with CNN since replacing Joe Biden as the nominee. The interview, conducted by Dana Bash, will take place in Georgia and will air on Thursday at 9 pm. This will be Harris’s first one-on-one media interview during the campaign, which has drawn criticism from the Trump campaign.
Despite occasional interactions with journalists on the campaign trail, Harris has yet to hold a formal news conference. The Trump campaign has attacked her competency, noting that she will be doing the interview alongside Tim Walz. In contrast, Trump has been actively engaging with the media, primarily focusing on criticizing the Biden administration.
Harris has outlined some policy agendas, including a middle-class tax cut and a strong foreign policy approach. Throughout her vice-presidential term, Harris has been more accessible to the media than Biden, frequently giving interviews and speaking with reporters while travelling on Air Force Two.
The CNN interview comes as Harris and Walz embark on a campaign bus tour, providing an opportunity for the Democratic candidates to address key issues and engage with voters. Despite criticism from rivals, Harris’s upcoming interview signifies a shift towards greater media engagement as the election campaign heats up.
