Israeli forces conducted an aerial counterterrorism operation in the Al-Faraa refugee camp in Jenin, killing four armed militants. The Palestinian health ministry reported at least nine people were killed overnight. Israeli forces surrounded the area, blocking access to hospitals and entry/exit points. The Nour Shams camp in Tulkarem received warnings to evacuate before the raids, but evacuations were not mandatory. Witnesses saw IDF surrounding the camp and blocking access to medical facilities.
Israeli Foreign Minister Katz stated that the operation in the West Bank is part of a “full-fledged war” linked to the conflict in Gaza, with the goal of addressing terrorist threats similar to those in Gaza. He accused Iran of supporting terrorist activities in the region, including in the West Bank, through funding and arming militants.
The IDF is said to be operating intensely in Jenin and Tulkarem to combat these threats. The Palestinian Prime Minister’s office condemned the blockading of medical facilities, stating it poses a threat to patients and staff. Israeli authorities believe they must tackle this issue with the same urgency as threats in Gaza, including the temporary evacuation of Palestinian residents if necessary.
Israel frequently attributes violence in the region to Iran, accusing the country of supporting militant groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. The ongoing conflict in Gaza has seen a high number of casualties, with both civilians and armed militants being killed.
