Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has vowed to apprehend those responsible for the killing of six hostages recovered from Hamas captivity in Gaza. Netanyahu emphasized that whoever murders hostages does not want a deal, indicating a commitment to securing the release of remaining hostages while ensuring Israel’s security.
Negotiations with Hamas have been stalled due to disagreements over border control corridors and Israeli military presence in Gaza. Israel insists on retaining control of the corridors to prevent smuggling and catch militants, while Hamas demands the full withdrawal of Israeli forces.
In response to the hostage killings, Israeli forces have continued their offensive in the West Bank, targeting the city of Jenin for the fifth consecutive day. The aggressive military campaign has resulted in casualties, damage to civilian properties, and infrastructure destruction.
Further complicating the situation, Senior Hamas official Izzat El-Reshiq blames Israel for the deaths of the hostages due to its refusal to sign a ceasefire deal. The hostages’ families have denounced Netanyahu for failing to secure their loved ones’ release, leading to protests and calls for accountability.
As tensions escalate, concerns about a potential outbreak of polio in Gaza have prompted a vaccination campaign to protect children from the virus. Despite limited ceasefires for the vaccination efforts, reports continue of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
