Competitive eaters Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi go head to head in a Labor Day hot dog eating contest

Two legendary competitive eaters, Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi, are set to face off in a live streaming event on Netflix on Labor Day. Chestnut, a 16-time Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest champion, will go up against Kobayashi, a six-time winner. This matchup marks their first competition in 15 years. Chestnut was absent from this year’s July 4 contest due to a dispute with Major League Eating, while Kobayashi had retired from competitive eating five years ago. However, the opportunity to compete against Chestnut again was too tempting for him to pass up.

During the event, the eaters will have 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs as they can, with stricter rules that include no dunking or separating the hot dogs from the buns. The special will also feature undercard events, such as a chicken wing-eating contest between competitive eater Matt Stonie and Olympians Ryan Lochte, Ryan Murphy, and Max Irving, as well as a watermelon-eating challenge by Leah Shutkever.

Both Chestnut and Kobayashi are confident that they will push each other to set new world records during the event. Despite their long history of competition, they both expressed excitement and determination to perform their best during the upcoming showdown. Viewers can expect an intense and entertaining battle between these two legends of competitive eating.
