Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is deploying city resources, including cooling centers and emergency personnel, to prepare for the extreme heat. Public facilities will be made available for residents to seek relief from the high temperatures. Excessive heat warnings are in place for much of Southern California, extending into Arizona and Southern Nevada. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
On the East Coast, normal to below-normal temperatures are expected, while the Gulf Coast of Texas may see thunderstorms. The hot and dry conditions in the West could exacerbate fire weather in the northern Plains states, where a “critical fire weather” forecast is in effect.
Overall, the West Coast is bracing for a significant heat wave, while other parts of the country experience more moderate weather patterns. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions to stay safe and cool during the extreme heat.
