Vice President Kamala Harris’ political operation raised over $300 million in August, surpassing former President Donald Trump’s fundraising efforts during the same period. The rapid pace of fundraising has continued since President Joe Biden stepped aside from seeking the Democratic nomination. Plans for several fundraisers for Harris are in the works in cities like New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The campaign also hit milestones in August, including choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and holding a convention in Chicago, resulting in over $540 million raised overall since Harris took over. In comparison, the Trump campaign reported raising $130 million in August with $300 million cash on hand, emphasizing small-dollar donations. A Trump campaign advisor attributed these fundraising numbers to the America First movement and projected a return to the White House to address what they see as failures from the Harris-Biden administration. The next campaign finance disclosure deadline for Harris is on September 20.
