A 17-year-old teenager from Oklahoma, who was previously arrested and released for the fatal shooting of his father, now faces charges in the killing of his mother in Florida. The teenager was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his mother at his grandmother’s home in Auburndale, northeast of Tampa. He faces charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and violation of a no-contact order. Authorities are seeking to have him tried as an adult. Two days before the stabbing, the teen and his mother had an argument about chores, leading him to flee to his grandmother’s home. The teenager called 911 claiming his mother had fallen on a knife after a long fight, but the medical examiner found the account unreasonable. The teenager had also claimed self-defense in the fatal shooting of his father a year earlier, but charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. He had previously been arrested for assaulting his mother in November. Despite claiming self-defense, he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence battery. The outcome of that case is unclear. The teenager’s behavior has raised concerns, and he now faces serious legal consequences for the killing of his mother.
