Former New York Gov. David Paterson and his stepson were attacked in Manhattan by individuals who had a previous interaction with the stepson. Both were taken to a hospital as a precaution after the incident on Second Avenue in East Harlem. Paterson and his stepson suffered injuries but were able to fight off their attackers. Paterson, who served as governor after Eliot Spitzer’s resignation, was treated for injuries to his head while the other man had injuries to his face. Both are in stable condition. A police report has been filed, and the attack is under investigation. No arrests have been made so far. Paterson served as lieutenant governor before becoming governor in March 2008, finishing Spitzer’s term until the end of 2010. He did not seek reelection.
