Sorority sisters advocate for change one year after fatal high-speed crash claims lives of 4 Pepperdine students

One year ago, four Pepperdine University students were tragically killed in a high-speed crash along Pacific Coast Highway. Niahm Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams were hit by a car while walking to meet their sorority sisters. Their friends and family continue to grieve their loss and try to honor their legacy. Deslyn’s best friend, Hannah Allen, remembers the future they had planned together, while Georgia Puckett tries to live authentically like her late friends. Each of the four students is remembered fondly by those who knew them well, with characteristics such as wisdom, kindness, and joyfulness standing out. The sorority sisters have pushed to make the dangerous PCH safer, with new speed cameras being added along the road. Governor Gavin Newsome signed a bill into law to support this effort, and the sorority has added a new foundation to their philanthropy in remembrance of their sisters. The goal is to continue making PCH safer in honor of the legacy and impact of the four students. Despite the pain and grief, their friends and loved ones are determined to keep their memory alive and make a positive change in their honor.
