The Democratic National Committee is leveraging Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to encourage young people to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. Swift, who endorsed Harris in September, is set to perform in Miami Gardens, Florida, with the DNC launching a Taylor Swift-themed “I Will Vote” campaign in battleground states. The campaign includes Snapchat filters and advertisements directing fans to voting resources on IWillVote.com. The latest NBC News poll shows Trump and Harris deadlocked, with Democrats targeting Gen Z voters to gain traction before Election Day. DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin emphasized the importance of engaging young voters through various platforms to highlight the differences between Harris’ platform and Trump’s agenda. The campaign involves billboards, mobile billboards on boats near the stadium, and interactive Snapchat filters using Swiftian lingo like “era” and “fearless” to inspire voting on Nov. 5. Swift’s influence has previously resulted in a surge of voter registrations after encouraging people to vote in 2018 and endorsing Harris on Instagram in 2022. Swifties for Kamala, a fan-formed group, has been raising money for Harris even before Swift’s endorsement. While it is not confirmed whether Swift is directly involved with the DNC campaign, her influence is evident in motivating young people to participate in the upcoming election.
