A 13-year-old suspect was taken into custody after attempting to enter Roosevelt Elementary School in Kenosha potentially armed with firearms. The teen fled when confronted by school staff and was later arrested. Police believe he had a weapon in the bag he carried. Surveillance footage showed the teen practicing with a rifle and internet searches related to school shootings. School officials praised the safety measures in place that prevented further tragedy and urged parents to talk to their children about reporting suspicious behavior. The incident occurred less than two miles from where a teenager shot two men during protests over the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in 2020. Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager involved in the fatal shootings, was found not guilty of all charges.
