Anchor Point Man Arrested for Gunfire Incidents Targeting Homer Clinics
A 30-year-old man from Anchor Point, Josiah Kelly, has been arrested and charged with gunfire-related incidents involving two clinics in Homer. Kelly allegedly fired shots at the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic on Monday and previously at a substance abuse recovery center last month, claiming his actions were motivated by religious beliefs.
According to a criminal complaint, Kelly expressed his discontent with the clinic by stating he had cancelled their trash service due to disagreements over family planning. He is affiliated with RRR Trash and Recycling, which did not respond to inquiries.
The shooting incidents occurred early Monday morning and later that evening, with multiple rounds fired into the clinic building, which was unoccupied during both events. Surveillance footage captured the incident, revealing gunfire from a green Toyota Tundra pickup, which led to Kelly’s arrest about 30 minutes later in a traffic stop. Police found a recently fired 9mm pistol in the vehicle.
Kelly faces multiple felony charges, including weapon misconduct and criminal mischief, with potential for additional charges. The family planning clinic, which offers various reproductive health services, remains committed to supporting reproductive health care in the community, according to CEO Claudia Haines.
The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
