Nanooks falter again in their second matchup against Chaminade, struggling to secure victory.

HONOLULU — The Alaska Nanooks men’s basketball team fell to the Chaminade Silverswords, suffering a 91-84 loss in their Hawaii trip’s finale on Monday night. Despite a stellar performance from Isaiah Saams-Hoy, who scored 28 points, and Jalai O’Keith contributing a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, the Nanooks couldn’t secure their first win, now sitting at 0-3 for the season.

The game started with excitement as Saams-Hoy quickly put the Nanooks on the scoreboard. However, after a promising lead, the Silverswords responded with an impressive 18-2 run that flipped the momentum in their favor. Alaska managed to keep the game close with notable contributions, including a late three-pointer from O’Keith that kept them only two points behind at halftime, 45-41.

In the second half, the Nanooks displayed resilience but struggled with turnovers, ending the game with 21. Despite regaining the lead at one point, Chaminade pulled away late, scoring the final five points to seal the victory. The team aims to bounce back in their home opener against Multnomah on November 22 at 7 p.m.
