The high school ASAA State Championships saw a range of victories in various sports. In tennis, Jan Chongkavinit from Colony defeated Lana Cebrian from West in girls singles, and Ulysses Escobar from Service won boys singles. In riflery, East triumphed over West with notable performances from Iris Hardstad-Bell and Charlotte Bitten. Volleyball matchups throughout the week included wins by West Valley and Lathrop over their opponents. Flag football games resulted in victories for Wasilla and South. In football action, Seward, Chugiak, Dimond, Palmer, and Soldotna secured wins in their respective matches. West triumphed in the swimming meet against Eagle River and Colony. In the collegiate realm, UAA volleyball teams faced off against Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington, while the UAA hockey team suffered losses to Miami (OH). The NAHL game saw the Anchorage Wolverines beat the Kenai River Brown Bears. Additionally, the 2024 Zombie Half Marathon saw Mandy Vincent-Lang and Grant Bell emerge as the top runners in the women’s and men’s categories, respectively.
