Dimond High School has claimed the top spot in the High School Football America Alaska Top 5 rankings after defeating Soldotna and finishing the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record. This marks the first time since 2000 that Dimond has finished the regular season undefeated. Soldotna, previously ranked No. 1, dropped to No. 5 following their loss to Lathrop.
West High School moved up to the No. 2 spot after securing a victory over Bartlett. Bettye Davis East, previously ranked No. 2, fell to No. 3 after being surprised by unranked South. The Division I and III teams are now heading into the postseason, while Division II will conclude its regular season this weekend.
Soldotna’s loss to Lathrop marked only the fourth home loss for the team in 18 years under head coach Galen Brantley, Jr. The High School Football America rankings are determined using a proprietary algorithm.
