Alaska Christian College Celebrates Grand Opening of New Athletic Center
Soldotna, Alaska – Alaska Christian College’s dream of having an athletic center finally became a reality on Friday as a dedication ceremony was held to showcase the new facility. The event was filled with excitement as students, staff, and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the completion of the unique project.
The journey to constructing the athletic center was marked by a series of miraculous events, including divine intervention in finding the perfect piece of land for the facility. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner of the land, a chance encounter at an airport bathroom eventually led to the successful acquisition of the property.
Despite initial estimates suggesting an $18 million budget for construction, the entire project was completed at a cost of $3.2 million through generous donations and volunteer labor. The facility, which was funded by various donors and foundations, will serve as a hub for community activities and provide a space for students to engage in sports and recreational activities.
Looking ahead, Alaska Christian College plans to further expand the facility in the second phase of construction with the addition of a lobby space, chapel, wellness center, and commercial kitchen. The dedication ceremony was a testament to the power of collaboration and shared vision, showcasing what can be achieved when people come together for a common purpose.
