The regular season for high school football in Divisions I and III in Alaska is wrapping up this weekend, with Division II teams, including top-ranked Soldotna, set to finish in two weeks. In the latest High School Football America Alaska Top 5 rankings, Dimond has moved up to the No. 2 spot after a victory over former No. 2 Bettye Davis East. Dimond is now in contention for the Cook Inlet Conference championship, with a chance to win it outright if they defeat Service this week.
The upcoming games between No. 4 West and No. 5 Bartlett will determine playoff seeding in Division I. The Alaska School Activities Association has released the playoff schedule for the 2024 First National Bowl Series Football State Championships, with Division I and Division III quarterfinals and semifinals taking place in October, leading up to the finals on October 25 at Colony High School. Meanwhile, Division II will have their semifinals on October 18-19 and finals on October 26, also at Colony High School, and Division III will have their semifinals and finals at Wasilla High School.
Soldotna maintains its top spot in the rankings with a perfect 7-0 record, followed by Dimond, Bettye Davis East, West, and Bartlett. The rankings are determined by a proprietary algorithm developed by High School Football America.
