CAMM2 memory modules offer revolutionary improvements in memory technology with exceptional read and write speeds

TeamGroup has recently introduced its Compression Attached Memory Module 2 (CAMM2), a new memory technology that promises high-speed DDR5 performance in its T-Create lineup. The innovative design of CAMM2 allows for dual-channel operation in a single module, streamlining system architecture and lowering power consumption. With features like a built-in Client Clock Driver (CKD) and optimized thermal design, CAMM2 offers remarkable read, write, and copy speeds of up to 117GB/s, 108GB/s, and 106GB/s, respectively.

However, one of the major challenges facing the adoption of CAMM2 is the limited availability of compatible motherboards. Currently, only a few boards, such as MSI’s Z790 Project Zero, support CAMM2. Despite this setback, other brands like Gigabyte are hinting at possible CAMM2-enabled designs in the future.

TeamGroup is aiming to launch the first-generation T-Create CAMM2 modules by Q1 2025, with hopes for broader motherboard support as manufacturers introduce new CPU platforms. The company is also working on achieving even faster speeds with future iterations of CAMM2, potentially reaching DDR5-8000 and DDR5-9000.

The unique advantages of CAMM2, such as its dual-channel operation and superior signal integrity, make it a compelling option for high-performance laptops where current memory standards may face limitations. With the potential for CAMM2 to secure a foothold in the market alongside upcoming budget-friendly CPUs from AMD and Intel, the future looks promising for this new memory technology.
