As the holidays approach, a storm system is moving across the Great Lakes and Northeast regions, bringing rain and snow in the days leading up to Christmas. The Northeast has already experienced snow on the first day of winter and is expected to receive more between Monday and Tuesday. The storm system has hit the West Coast but is keeping temperatures slightly above average, with showers expected in Northern California and Washington. The interior Northeast, Michigan, and Wisconsin are expected to receive two to six inches of snow before Christmas Eve, while areas like New York City and Boston are unlikely to see significant snowfall. Despite the storms, there is currently no forecast for a white Christmas in many areas as melted snow is expected by Wednesday. Holiday travel may be impacted, especially along the I-95 corridor, with temperatures at record highs in the Plains and West. The warmth is expected to spread throughout the week, leading to high or above average temperatures across the entire contiguous U.S. by Friday.
