Israeli Airstrikes Claim 28 Lives in Gaza, Amidst Ongoing Conflict
Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that Israeli airstrikes overnight have resulted in the deaths of at least 28 Palestinians. Mahmud Bassal, a spokesperson for the agency, confirmed that 13 individuals perished in a strike on the Abu Samra family home in Deir al-Balah. The bombing of the Musa Bin Nusayr school, which was sheltering displaced families, also tragically claimed eight lives, four of whom were children. Additional airstrikes in Rafah and Gaza City further escalated the toll, claiming three and four lives, respectively.
As the conflict intensifies, humanitarian concerns rise. The health ministry in Gaza stated that major hospitals, including Kamal Adwan, are barely operational and have faced repeated attacks since October, amidst claims that the Israeli military aims to thwart Hamas regrouping. Reports indicate that Israeli forces have bombed hospitals and shelters, resulting in significant civilian casualties.
Further complicating the humanitarian crisis, the UN has warned that nearly 2 million displaced Palestinians face dire conditions as winter approaches, with inadequate shelter against harsh weather. As these events unfold, the global community watches closely, with calls for urgent humanitarian assistance intensifying in light of widespread displacement and suffering among civilians.
