Trump Dismisses Jabs about Elon Musk as the True Power Behind the President-Elect | Donald Trump News

Trump Defends Presidency Against Musk’s Influence Amid Transition

In a recent speech in Arizona, President Donald Trump addressed concerns regarding billionaire Elon Musk’s significant involvement in the transition of his administration, firmly rejecting claims that he has "ceded the presidency" to the tech mogul. The President’s comments follow Musk’s intervention alongside Trump during negotiations on a budget bill, which was ultimately derailed in Congress.

Critics have noted Musk’s increasingly prominent role in the upcoming administration, which has drawn scrutiny from both Democrats and some Republicans. Trump responded to the backlash by commending Musk but insisted, "no, he’s not taking the presidency," labeling the notion a politically motivated "hoax." He humorously noted Musk’s South African birth status as a constitutional barrier to the presidency.

Musk, recognized as the world’s richest person, has been a vocal supporter of Trump, notably endorsing him following an assassination attempt. He also invested roughly $200 million into a Political Action Committee backing Trump. Recently appointed to lead a proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk is expected to advocate for dramatic cuts in federal spending, though the department’s structure remains nebulous.

Trump’s remarks arrived just a day after outgoing President Joe Biden signed a funding bill that prevents a government shutdown. Trump opposed the original bipartisan bill for not addressing the debt ceiling, which he deemed essential. Musk similarly criticized the deal on social media, threatening to support primary challengers against lawmakers who voted for the agreement.

Musk’s involvement in high-level discussions, including engagements with foreign leaders, has raised alarms among Democrats, prompting accusations of self-serving interests that could undermine national interests and jobs. Concerns persist as Musk’s sway appears to challenge the traditional separation of corporate influence from political governance.
