Titan Linne won the state championship at 125 pounds, while Summer Boling secured a runner-up spot in the girls 132-pound bracket. Additionally, Gage Massin and Paul Thompson each placed third in their respective weight classes, contributing to Kayhi’s overall success.
Coach Matt Hamilton praised the team for being “dialed in” and achieving such remarkable results. Linne’s upset victory over the top-ranked wrestler was a highlight of the event, earning him the Most Outstanding Wrestler award. Boling, a junior, showcased significant improvement by finishing second in her weight class after a break-out season.
The seniors, Massin and Thompson, faced tough challenges but bounced back with impressive wins in the consolation rounds. Thompson’s dominant performance led to a third-place finish, while Massin rallied from deficits to secure third place as well. Despite facing obstacles, the Kayhi wrestlers displayed resilience and determination throughout the competition.
