Alaskans Can Now Apply for 2025 Permanent Fund Dividend

It’s that time of year again for Alaskans to apply for their Permanent Fund dividend. The application period for the 2025 PFD opened on New Year’s Day and will remain open until March 31. The exact amount each Alaskan will receive is yet to be determined, with the Legislature and Governor Mike Dunleavy set to decide during the upcoming legislative session.

Gov. Dunleavy’s budget proposal suggests a payment of around $3,900 per Alaskan, but this is unlikely to be approved by the Legislature as it would require drawing over $1.5 billion from the state’s main savings account. If the informal formula used in recent years is followed, the PFD checks would be closer to $1,400. Last year’s dividend, including a one-time energy relief payment, was about $1,702.

To be eligible for the Permanent Fund dividend, applicants must have been Alaska residents for the entirety of 2024 and intend to remain residents indefinitely. Payments are usually distributed in October. Applications can be submitted online at mypfd.alaska.gov, or paper applications can be obtained from Permanent Fund Division offices or various state and local government offices.
