The Utah Ski Team started the 2025 season with a strong performance at the Alaska Anchorage Invitational, racing in a 10K freestyle interval start. Walker Hall finished second in the men’s race, while freshman Erica Lavén took bronze in the women’s race. Utah currently leads the UAA Invitational standings with 172 points, a 10-point advantage over Denver.

In the men’s race, Hall and Brian Bushey had strong performances, with Lucas Wilmot also scoring team points in his collegiate debut. Hall finished third overall and second among Americans, while Wilmot topped the junior podium. On the women’s side, Lavén, Selma Nevin, and Nina Schamberger finished in the top seven, leading the team scoring with 86 points.

Both Hall and Lavén had impressive performances, with Hall describing the race as fast and firm, leading to close times. The Utes will continue their competition with a 20K classic mass start on Sunday and the alpine season opener at Loveland Ski Area on Monday.
