Alaska Airlines is set to offer its most extensive summer schedule from Anchorage during the northern summer 2025 season, with the addition of new services to Detroit, Sacramento, and Hawaii. The airline will launch weekly, seasonal, nonstop flights from Anchorage to Detroit Metropolitan Airport and Sacramento International Airport, as well as daily nonstop service between Fairbanks International Airport and Portland International Airport. The routes will be operated using Boeing 737-900 and Embraer 175 aircraft.
Alaska Airlines will be the sole operator on the Anchorage-Sacramento and Fairbanks-Portland routes, competing with Delta Air Lines on the Anchorage-Detroit route. Strong demand is expected for the new routes, especially the Anchorage-Sacramento route, which saw approximately 30,100 two-way passengers during the first 11 months of 2024.
In addition to the Alaska expansion, Alaska Airlines will launch a daily service between Ontario International Airport in California and Honolulu Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Hawaii. This route will be operated with 737-9 aircraft, replacing Hawaiian Airlines, which currently operates the route with Airbus A321 aircraft.
Overall, the new summer schedule from Alaska Airlines aims to connect Anchorage to 15 destinations and meet the growing demand for travel, especially to popular destinations like Hawaii. Travelers can look forward to convenient and comfortable flights on Alaska Airlines during the upcoming summer season.
