Alaska DOF Assists in Los Angeles Wildfires
Amidst the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, the Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection (DOF) has deployed two employees to assist in what they are calling a nationwide effort. A warehouse staffer and a dispatcher have been sent to help with operational and logistical tasks, working closely with the National Interagency Coordination Center to coordinate resource needs.
According to Alaska DOF spokesperson Lily Coyle, firefighters from California and nearby states are likely to be activated before Alaskans, but the state’s successful partnerships allow them to support other states during their fire season. Coyle emphasized that these partnerships also provide assistance to Alaska when needed.
Even though it is winter in Alaska, the DOF remains vigilant in monitoring wildfires, as they pose challenges year-round. They are on standby to provide further support if necessary.
As wildfires continue to rage across California, the assistance of Alaska DOF employees is a welcome addition to the firefighting efforts. The nationwide collaboration among states highlights the importance of working together to combat natural disasters.
