Anchorage received 1.4 inches of snow on Thursday, the most since November 15th, following a period of record low snowfall. The city will continue to experience warm, windy, and wet weather into the weekend, with back-to-back storms expected to impact Alaska. Southcentral Alaska saw 1-6 inches of snow on Thursday, with the most snowfall reported in Clam Gulch at 5.5 inches. The region will experience light snow showers and wintry mix today before a break ahead of the weekend storms. The Interior will see potential for up to an inch of snow accumulation and above-average temperatures through the weekend. The Alaska Range may see wind gusts up to 80 mph, leading to warmth well into the 40s.

Southeast Alaska will experience wet and breezy weather with light rain and potential flooding due to snow melt. Cooler temperatures are expected next week, bringing the possibility of wintry mix and snow. Western and Southwest Alaska will see active weather with rain, snow, and blowing snow throughout the weekend into early next week.

The Aleutians will face three storms leading to wintry mix and strong winds up to 70 mph. Beyond the weekend, cooler weather and wintry mix are expected. Across the state, high winds and coastal flooding are the biggest concerns for the weekend, followed by a return to colder temperatures next week. Residents are urged to stay safe and prepare for changing conditions.
