Anchorage Lawyer Shot by Former Employee, Police Chief Provides Details

A shocking incident unfolded in Anchorage on Wednesday, as a former employee shot an Anchorage lawyer before being shot by police outside a Government Hill home. Trevor Stefano, 38, was charged with attempted murder, first- and third-degree assault, and misconduct involving weapons in connection with the shooting.

The police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at a home on Hollywood Drive just before 6 a.m. The attorney who lived at the home, also used it as his law office. A friend of the attorney, who was staying at the home, called 911 upon hearing shots being fired.

When officers arrived, they found Stefano breaking windows at the back of the home with a pistol. He then shot the attorney multiple times as the attorney walked out of the house. The officers subsequently shot and wounded Stefano, who, along with the attorney, underwent surgery at a hospital.

Further investigations revealed that Stefano had been on parole for a second-degree murder conviction from 2006, where he shot another man during a robbery over OxyContin. Additionally, it was discovered that Stefano had been “stalking and threatening” a woman who had briefly dated him and previously worked for the attorney.

This incident marks the second shooting by police in Anchorage this year, following a shooting less than 24 hours prior involving a man suspected to be involved in a robbery in Midtown. Last year, Anchorage police shot eight people, resulting in five fatalities. The charges against Stefano were filed on Thursday, shedding light on a disturbing series of events that have shaken the Anchorage community.
