Alaska Gasline Development Corporation Names Glenfarne Group as Potential Partner for Alaska LNG Project
On Thursday, the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation announced that it is in talks with Glenfarne Group LLC to take over the $44 billion Alaska LNG Project. This news comes after a framework agreement was reached with a company, the name of which had not been disclosed until now.
Corporation spokesperson Tim Fitzpatrick stated that the company name was released for transparency reasons and that further updates will be announced at future board meetings and legislative presentations.
Glenfarne Energy Transition confirmed an exclusive agreement with AGDC on Thursday, which includes the 800-mile pipeline, an LNG export facility in Nikiski, and carbon capture infrastructure on the North Slope.
AGDC President Frank Richards praised the qualifications of the unnamed company, noting their extensive experience in U.S. and international natural gas and LNG projects.
Enstar Natural Gas Company also has an exclusive agreement with Glenfarne for a natural gas import infrastructure in Nikiski, separate from AGDC’s agreement. The project includes land-based regasification facilities and terminals for Liquefied Natural Gas tankers.
ENSTAR President John Sims expressed optimism about the progress made with Glenfarne but noted that there is still a long road ahead before project details can be discussed.
Glenfarne Group, founded in 2011, develops, owns, and operates energy infrastructure with offices around the world, including in Houston and New York.
