In a recent announcement, the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Ryan Johnson has been named the Rookie of the Year for the Independent Schools. Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Johnson impressed with his performance throughout the season as he led the Seawolves in both goals (11) and points (25). Notably, he also topped the team’s rankings with seven power-play goals.
Johnson’s outstanding skills were further showcased in his impressive 10-game point streak to conclude the season, during which he contributed two goals and 10 assists. Additionally, he recorded four multi-point games, further solidifying his status as a standout player for the Seawolves.
Despite Johnson’s remarkable efforts, the Seawolves closed out the 2024-25 season with a 6-23-5 record. Nevertheless, his contributions on the ice did not go unnoticed, earning him well-deserved recognition as the Rookie of the Year.
