Annebelle Foster from Lathrop High School showcased her skills in the long jump event at the Big C Relays held at the Dome in Anchorage. The high school basketball matches this week saw teams like Dimond, Colony, Wasilla, West, Ketchikan, and Juneau-Douglas competing fiercely. In the track and field category, various events took place, including the 100 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 3200 meters, hurdles, relays, shot put, discus, and high jump for both boys and girls.
Standout performers included Sarah Dittman from Dimond and Jenna Houk from Mountain City Christian in the girls’ events, while Tyce Escott from Soldotna and Connor Hitchcock from Sitka excelled in the boys’ category. Notable relay victories were achieved by Chugiak and Soldotna in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively.
The competition also featured other events like the Swedish Medley Relay, Distance Medley Relay, Shot Put, Discus, and Pentathlon contests. The mix of individual and team events made the Big C Relays a thrilling and competitive event for high school athletes in Alaska.
In ice hockey action in the NAHL, the Anchorage Wolverines emerged victorious in their matches against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The weekend was filled with excitement, showcasing the talent and determination of young athletes across different sports in the region.
