Prince Harry faces legal battle over security despite stepping back as senior royal

Prince Harry is appealing the British government’s decision to reduce his publicly-funded security detail after stepping down as a full-time member of the royal family and moving to the United States with his wife, Meghan. He argues that his family faces particular threats due to racially motivated abuse towards his wife. Despite previously losing the right to appeal, he has successfully overturned this decision. In addition to this legal battle, Harry has been involved in multiple lawsuits against British tabloids, with substantial damages being paid to him by The Sun. He is also among a group of celebrities suing Associated Newspapers Limited for lawbreaking in its information gathering methods. Harry has had a turbulent relationship with his family since leaving the U.K. and is currently in the country as his father, King Charles III, undergoes cancer treatment, sparking speculation of a rare meeting between them. Harry has also been awarded a settlement for a phone-hacking claim against Mirror Group Newspapers.
