Vice President JD Vance, an Ohio State alum, attended a White House event to celebrate the Buckeyes’ NCAA football championship. During the event, Vance called out a man wearing a University of Michigan hat, Ohio State’s top rival. The team presented the president and vice president with a custom helmet and jersey. As “We Are the Champions” played, Vance attempted to lift the 3-foot championship trophy, which the team earned by defeating Notre Dame in January. In an awkward moment, Vance ended up fumbling the trophy. Vance graduated from Ohio State in 2009 with a degree in philosophy and political science. Despite the mishap, the White House visit was intended to honor the Buckeyes’ achievement and celebrate their success on the football field.
