On April 14, 2025, an earthquake with a magnitude type of Ml and a depth of 50.6 miles occurred 46 miles west of Talkeetna, Alaska. The event, which has not yet been reviewed by a seismologist, also happened 60 miles northeast of Hayes Volcano, 65 miles northwest of Willow, and 77 miles north of Mt. Spurr.
The earthquake was also felt 83 miles northwest of Hatcher Pass, 83 miles south of Kantishna, and 87 miles northwest of Wasilla. Additionally, it was reported 90 miles southeast of Telida, 90 miles north of Tyonek, and 95 miles northwest of Anchorage and Chugiak.
Located 208 miles southwest of Fairbanks, the earthquake occurred at a specific geographic location with coordinates of 62.3571°N 151.5522°W. Despite the event being a common occurrence in Alaska due to its proximity to tectonic plate boundaries, the exact impact and potential damages have not been reported.
Residents in the area are advised to stay prepared and vigilant in case of any aftershocks or subsequent events. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
