Discovery Channel’s ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Leaves Fans Wondering About Season 15
After 14 seasons, the beloved reality series ‘Alaskan Bush People’ went off the air in 2022 with no explanation from the network, leaving fans questioning if it would return for season 15. The show has not been officially canceled by the Discovery Channel, but the last new episode aired in December 2022 before going on an extended hiatus.
The hiatus followed the tragic death of patriarch Billy Brown in February 2021, leading many to believe it played a role. The show’s status was revealed in a legal dispute involving Billy’s business partner, Robert Maughon, which stated that the show had 14 seasons and hinted at its uncertain future.
While the Discovery Channel has not announced a return for season 15, Bear Brown teased a potential spinoff in April 2024 called ‘Alaskan Bush People: Behind the Scenes With Bear Brown.’ This spinoff has yet to materialize, and Bear clarified in March 2025 that the show is on an extended hiatus, not officially canceled.
The Brown family, who relocated to Washington from Alaska for matriarch Ami Brown’s cancer treatment, continues to face health challenges. Amidst Ami’s recent battle with pneumonia, son Noah announced his separation from wife Rhain after six years of marriage in January 2025.
