UAA Volleyball recaptures NCAA DII regular-season attendance record.

A record-breaking crowd of 4,388 fans filled the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage on Saturday night to watch the volleyball match between in-state rivals, UAA and UAF. This attendance number set a new NCAA Division II regular-season volleyball record and marked the largest sporting event ever held at the Alaska Airlines Center. The previous record was set by UAA in 2022 with 3,888 fans, which was surpassed by Nebraska-Kearney last season before being reclaimed by the Alaska volleyball community.

In the 120th meeting between the two college volleyball programs, the Nanooks swept the Seawolves 25-18, 25-16, 26-24. Despite the loss, UAA’s Larssen Anderson stood out with a game-high 10 kills, while UAF’s Ainsley Smith, a North Pole High graduate, led with 18 assists.

The impressive turnout and support from the community showcase the strong interest and passion for volleyball in Alaska. The Seawolves still have two more matches at home this season to engage with their dedicated fan base.
