Estée Lauder Appoints New Chief Officer for Technology, Data, and Analytics

The Estée Lauder Companies has announced the appointment of Brian Franz as the chief technology, data, and analytics officer. In this newly created role, Franz will be responsible for overseeing the company’s global data and technology capabilities to drive innovation, improve business agility, and deliver personalized consumer experiences. He will lead the global IT organization, digital technology, and enterprise data teams.

With a background in technology, operations, and business transformation, Franz brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at State Street, Diageo PLC, PepsiCo International, and GE. Estée Lauder’s president and CEO, Stéphane de La Faverie, praised Franz’s expertise and leadership qualities, stating that he will play a crucial role in the company’s technology and operational transformation.

The appointment of Franz comes on the heels of a better-than-expected sales update for Estée Lauder’s second quarter. The company reported a 6% decline in quarterly sales to $4 billion, outperforming analysts’ estimates. To support its return to sales growth and achieve a solid double-digit adjusted operating margin, Estée Lauder has announced a restructuring plan that includes up to 7,000 job cuts across its global operations.

As Estée Lauder continues to focus on its vision of Beauty Reimagined, the appointment of Brian Franz signals a commitment to leveraging technology, data, and analytics to drive growth and innovation within the company.
