Lucknow: BBAU Hosts Vibrant Cycling Event Promoting Fitness and Sustainability
Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) transformed its campus into a dynamic fitness hub on Sunday as teachers and staff enthusiastically participated in a cycling event aimed at promoting sustainable transportation. The event is part of the nationwide ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to encourage regular cycling, enhance fitness, and raise environmental awareness.
BBAU spokesperson, Prof. Rachna Gangwar, highlighted the event’s primary goals, stating, “The cycling campaign emphasized the importance of sustainable transport in reducing air pollution.” Participants received essential briefings on proper cycling techniques, safety measures, and the numerous benefits of incorporating cycling into their daily routines. The event also included informative sessions on bicycle maintenance and appropriate cycling gear, ensuring that participants were well-equipped for their cycling journeys.
The initiative concluded with a firm commitment from Vice-Chancellor Prof. RK Mittal, who, along with the university community, pledged to embrace cycling not merely as a Sunday activity but as a regular mode of transport. This move aims to instill a culture of fitness and eco-friendliness within the university.
The success of the event reinforces BBAU’s commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle while contributing to environmental sustainability. With initiatives like these, the university is fostering a community that values well-being and ecological responsibility, setting a commendable example for others to follow. The cycling event not only brought joy and camaraderie to participants but also served as a reminder of the collective responsibility toward a greener planet.
