Alaska Airlines Enhances Check-in with Jumio ID Verification
Alaska Airlines has teamed up with Jumio, an AI-driven biometric identity verification provider, to streamline the check-in process for international travelers. This collaboration underscores Alaska Airlines’ commitment to improving the travel experience through innovative solutions, enabling passengers to transition seamlessly from flight search to boarding.
By integrating Jumio ID Verification into its mobile app, Alaska Airlines allows international travelers with US and Canadian passports to verify their identities without waiting in check-in lines. The system authenticates government-issued IDs in real time, ensuring a swift and secure process.
Natalie Bowman, vice president of digital experience at Alaska Airlines, stated, “We selected Jumio as the solution that best provides our guests with a seamless travel experience. Through this partnership, guests can verify their travel documents directly in their Alaska Airlines app, saving time in the airport lobby and at their gate.”
Jumio’s technology supports over 5,000 types of government-issued IDs, including passports, driving licenses, and ID cards. Jumio’s chief product and technology officer, Bala Kumar, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “We are proud to partner with Alaska Airlines to help travelers save time at the airport and drive adoption rates for self-service ID verification.”
In a related development, Alaska Airlines recently invested in Loft Dynamics, which specializes in virtual flight training, aiming to create the first full-motion Boeing 737 virtual reality simulator using extended reality technology.
