On Saturday, a 63-foot Lamborghini yacht nearly sank near Monument Island in Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, while carrying 32 people, many of whom were social media influencers. The U.S. Coast Guard reported that the yacht began taking on water, triggering a search-and-rescue operation with Sector Miami responding promptly. Fortunately, all individuals aboard were successfully evacuated without any injuries.
The crew managed to prevent the yacht from sinking fully by using air bags to keep it afloat until its owner could consult a salvage company about its fate. Notably, the situation was documented on social media, with some passengers maintaining a light-hearted demeanor, including a humorous remark likening their plight to the Titanic.
The yacht in question was a Tecnomar Lamborghini 63, which typically has a variable passenger capacity based on its configuration—ranging from 12 to 16 people. Nonetheless, experts suggest a more reliable measure of capacity is its 24-ton weight capacity. A similar model was recently listed for sale at $4.7 million but is reportedly not available to U.S. residents, leading to some intrigue surrounding the vessel’s availability.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is currently investigating the incident, although they have not released details. In summary, the dramatic event unfolded without any injuries, showcasing both the thrill of luxury boating and the inherent risks involved.
