GAPP Launches Global Partnership Program at Seafood Expo Global
BRACELONA, Spain — The Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) launched its global partnership program on May 5, coinciding with the eve of the Seafood Expo Global (SEG). According to CEO Craig Morris, the timing was deliberate, aiming to leverage the international seafood industry’s largest gathering to amplify GAPP’s initiatives.
The new program seeks to unite various stakeholders in the seafood sector, focusing on promoting authentic Alaska pollock. “This is not just about marketing but creating a community that values sustainability and quality in seafood,” Morris stated. The initiative aims to foster relationships among producers, suppliers, and consumers to ensure the pollock industry thrives in a competitive marketplace.
During the expo, GAPP will be on the front lines, showcasing the benefits and culinary potential of Alaska pollock. Morris emphasized the need for increased awareness and demand for this versatile fish, which is often overshadowed by more widely recognized seafood species. “Alaska pollock is not just a staple in fast food; it has tremendous potential in gourmet settings as well,” he remarked.
This partnership program is expected to enhance GAPP’s outreach and involvement in the global seafood community. Given the growing consumer interest in sustainability, the initiative is timely as consumers seek more information about the seafood they consume.
As GAPP rolls out this campaign at SEG, stakeholders in the seafood industry are encouraged to engage and explore opportunities for collaboration to ensure that Alaska pollock takes its rightful place on plates worldwide.
