Family of Pilots Takes to the Skies

Moses Lake, Washington – Jeff, an alumnus of Big Bend Community College, recently achieved a significant milestone in his aviation career by joining Alaska Airlines in July 2023. After completing an aviation program and working as a flight instructor while earning his four-year degree, Jeff’s long-awaited dream was realized when he received the call to fly for Alaska Airlines. He began his career at SkyWest before landing this coveted position.

The joy of aviation runs deep in Jeff’s family. His mother, Michelle, has two older children who also pursue careers as pilots for various airlines. Their family’s shared passion for flying brings immense pride to Michelle and her husband, who balances life as an engineer and a stay-at-home dad. “I can’t really put into words what this all means to me. It’s all come full circle since flying with my dad. My career at Alaska Airlines has been an incredible experience,” she expressed.

For Jeff, the journey has been one of lifelong preparation and admiration. “They say you don’t get to meet your heroes,” he shared, reflecting on his flight with Michelle. “But I’ve known mine since I was born.” This moment not only highlights the personal fulfillment Jeff has found in his profession but also underscores the rich legacy of aviation in their family.
