Weekend Weather Outlook: Sunshine and Storms in Alaska
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A ridge of high pressure is set to bring sunshine and block incoming storms for parts of the weekend. However, a new low-pressure system will begin to affect southwest Alaska by Saturday night into Sunday, leading to increased cloud coverage in southcentral Alaska by Sunday evening.
In southeast Alaska, rain is expected to persist at least through Saturday, but conditions are likely to improve by Sunday. Meanwhile, the interior regions of Alaska will experience the benefits of high pressure building over the mainland, ensuring plenty of sunshine and resulting in high temperatures that could reach the mid to upper 50s.
