From Stripper to Spiritual Guide: Ashley Edelman’s Transformational Journey
In a remarkable transformation, former male stripper Ashley Edelman has swapped a life of drug-fueled parties for one grounded in meditation and peace. Originally from Australia, Edelman found himself working in Cornwall, England, as a stripper after a difficult transition from military life, where he served in the Army since age 17. Struggling with social anxiety, he turned to alcohol and then embraced the stripping lifestyle, believing, "I may as well get paid for it."
Despite initial success in one of the UK’s largest touring strip shows, the partying took its toll. "Cocaine, weed, partying—it all blurred together," he recalled. By 2018, he hit rock bottom and decided to leave the industry. After a brief return following the end of his marriage, Edelman recognized the emptiness in his pursuits, admitting, “I felt like I was selling my soul.”
Seeking change, he explored breathwork, personal development, and spirituality, which led him to iMONASTERY in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There, he lived like a monk for a month, embracing a rigorous routine marked by meditation and teaching. Edelman cited profound spiritual experiences that guided him to Dubai.
Now based in the Middle East, Edelman hosts breathwork sessions and coaches clients, helping them cultivate self-awareness and emotional regulation. He maintains a connection with his followers—over 147,000 on Instagram—aiming to inspire those who feel alone in their struggles.
Edelman asserts, “I used to live a life most men dreamed of… Now I live a life rooted in service.” He plans to return to the monastery annually but emphasizes his mission to help others. “Everything I went through led me here,” he concludes.
