Moose Attack Injures Woman and Dog in Kincaid Park
A woman and her dog sustained injuries in a moose attack Friday evening at Kincaid Park, according to a statement from the Anchorage Police Department (APD) on Saturday. The incident, which involved a cow moose protecting her calf, occurred around 5 p.m. as reported by APD spokeswoman Tess Hagensieker.
The injuries sustained by the woman were described as not life-threatening, and her dog also suffered injuries. Another member of the woman’s party made the call to police following the encounter with the moose.
Details regarding the specific location within Kincaid Park where the attack took place have not been disclosed by the police, nor were additional specifics available as of Saturday afternoon.
Authorities remind the public to exercise caution and respect when encountering moose in natural settings, especially when calves are present, as mother moose can be particularly aggressive in defense of their young.
