Ella Ding Addresses Backlash Over Sponsored Pregnancy Announcement
Ella Ding, the former “Married At First Sight” bride, is responding to criticism following her recent sponsored pregnancy announcement. The 31-year-old revealed she and her husband, Guy Palermo, secretly married in April 2024, and are expecting their first child. While many followers congratulated her, others labeled the announcement as “cringe,” “tacky,” and “embarrassing,” primarily due to its paid partnership with pregnancy test brand Clearblue.
Ding defended her decision in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, emphasizing that it was a natural choice. “Clearblue literally told me I’m pregnant,” she said, insisting that anyone in her situation would likely seize a similar opportunity. She acknowledged the mixed reactions but insisted that if the collaboration made sense for her, that was all that mattered.
Ella also voiced the financial realities of parenthood, stating, “Having a baby is f**king expensive,” and indicated that she and Palermo plan to capitalize on opportunities for their child’s future, wishing to establish a bank account for their baby to support savings from an early age.
Initially, Ella had planned to keep the pregnancy announcement private, inspired by Kylie Jenner’s approach. However, with the launch of her new podcast, “The Ella Era,” she felt it necessary to reveal her news sooner. The podcast is a new venture for her, where she discusses health, wellness, and business topics.
“The Ella Era” debuted on Tuesday, with episodes featuring interviews with entrepreneurs and insights into personal growth. Ella aims to separate her podcast journey from her pregnancy, although she may share updates with listeners.
